Commercial production of Absinthe, whose signature flavor is essential to many classic cocktails such as The Sazerac, was banned in the U.S. from 1912 to 2007.


  • 2oz Redemption Rye Whiskey
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 3 dashes Peychauds bitters
  • Absinthe, to rinse


  1. Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe
  2. Discard excess absinthe into stirring vessel
  3. Stir rye, simple syrup, bitters and excess absinthe with ice
  4. Strain neat into glass
  5. Express lemon peel over drink
  6. Garnish the peel on the rim of glass
